Have you seen H.E.R?

Music has a way of reaching the masses. In the early stages of his career Drake released his third mixtape ‘So Far Gone’. On the track ‘Best I Ever Had’ Drake stated “Buzz so big, I could probably sell a blank disc.” Seems a little far fetch doesn’t it? Well if you instantly answered yes, then you’re wrong. Well kind of.

In the fall of 2016 RCA artist ‘H.E.R’ released her first studio album entitled ‘Volume 1’. I’m sure you’re wondering what Drake has to do with anything. Well the uniqueness of this artist comes from the facr that her album cover is just a silhouette and no one has actually seen her face. “Buzz so big I could probably sell a disc without you know who I am” and surprisingly with talent like H.E.R no one is losing sleep over her not revealing who she is.

Volume 1 is a 7 track project lasting about 20 plus minutes and every second is a journey through rhythm and melody. H.E.R sings with passion and pain through lovely sounding harmonics and relatable lyrics that instantly grabs the ear and then the mind. If you enjoy neo-soul and R&B then you are in for a treat with this album.

If you are a first time listener you’d probably think she is another find for OVO Sound. C’mon she even has a remix to Drake’s sound ‘Jungle’ on Volume 1.
